Some Local Bloggers Head to DC

RightsideVA, Spank the Donkey and myself made it to DC. We spent almost two hours with our Congressman, Bob Goodlatte. It was fun. We spoke mostly of the building itself and events. There were some issue content. We tried to keep it light hearted.

We sat above the chamber for about 20 minutes. We were on the far left side of the chamber. Maybe not geographically, but definitely politically. We had Charlie Rangel, Major Owens, Maxine Waters, right in front of us. We saw Elliot Engel, Jose Serrano, Anthony Weiner. (I recognized most of the NYC delegation.) Rosa Delauro, Rahm Emanuel's landlord was stalking around for a good bit of the time. Keith Ellison, John Lewis were observed. Waxman was right under us cackling.
Nancy Pelosi was checking us out. She passed us atleast 5 times right outside the chambers.
The Repubs were far from where we were sitting. It was difficult to differentiate who was who. We did see Dr. Ron Paul. Cantor was up front. It was cool.
Watching them in action, it seemed more social than deliberative. And it was far more interesting than C-Span.
